Safe home for 65 pets impacted by domestic violence have been saved because Sojourner Center not only helps a family impacted by domestic violence, but their pets as well… This is something that I believe in strongly and donate to various domestic violence shelters in Arizona. Please see below if you would like to help as well. Thanks!!
One year ago today on May 12, 2015, Sojourner Center and our partner, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue, opened the first concurrent pet shelter program in Maricopa County for pet parents impacted by domestic violence. This pilot program, located at Sojourner Center’s crisis shelter, is essential in providing a comprehensive care continuum for the entire family and loving family pet. This important program is possible because of our generous donors and supporters like YOU!
Since opening the Sojourner Center Pet Companion Shelter, we have provided a safe home for 65 pets impacted by domestic violence.
Our program provides safe and comfortable shelter, basic daily care, veterinary services, exercise for dogs and cats, and special accommodations for other types of family pets such as birds and turtles. Pet therapy for the pets, pet parents and the Sojourner campus is an important component of the program, as well as a workforce readiness program designed to prepare pet parents interested in acquiring the skills for a career working with pets.
Please help us celebrate our anniversary by making a donation to the Sojourner Center Pet Companion Shelter! You can make your gift in honor or memory of a loved one (even a 4-legged friend) by visiting our secure online donation page by clicking HERE. Your support will directly impact families and their beloved animals who seek safe haven from domestic violence.
Thank you for supporting Sojourner Center!
